Exploring Corpus Christi

After a week at Pop and Gram's, we came down to visit Justin and spend a week at our apartment. Children and apartments don't really mix, so I do my best to get them out and burn off their energy. We tried out a trampoline park called Get Air with some friends and they really loved this place. They loved jumping off into the foam blocks but they did jump on the trampoline part too.

Like a crazy person, I took the kids to Cole Park to play on a Saturday morning. My days all run together since Justin works every single day so I didn't even realize it was Saturday until I was on my way there. Oh well, there were LOTS of kids for them to play with. Not a bad view when you're swinging!

We walked out on the pier at the park. Levi found a feather.

Another place we tried out is called Play. It's like a large McDonald's playground. Honestly I've been to one like this in Sugar Land called Stomping Grounds that was better (and they're opening a location in Katy!) but they still had fun. Levi especially loved the ball gun.

He spent most of the time right here!

Mattie set up her own little course to walk along.

And at least it had a little area that was good for Hailey to crawl around, including this ball pit.

Lastly, a trip here wouldn't be complete without going to the aquarium at least once. I've already taken lots of pictures but occasionally we are here at just the right time to see something different. We actually went again this morning with some friends and got to see divers in one of the tanks feeding the fish, sea turtle feeding time, and we actually watched the dolphin show today. It's so crowded (and hot) in the summer that I never bothered to try and see it but it worked out today. They really seemed to be entertained, Levi in particular. Mattie just wanted to dance to the music but clapped and oohed and ahhed at some of the dolphin tricks.

Now I've got to try and find more things to do! We'll go back to Get Air at some point and Levi has a class at the aquarium and one at the science and history museum this week so we're staying busy and out of the apartment as much as possible! Trying to make the most out of this gap year!

Busy in Boerne

In addition to the Halloween fun, we spent a few days with Pop and Gram running other errands and seeing family.

Pop showed Levi how to change the oil on my car (never too young to start learning that!)

We met up with Aunt Hannah to check out the Holiday Ole! market in San Antonio where I ran into several people I knew (small world). Here is Mattie with my friend's daughter, both 3.

They are becoming regulars at craft shows. We went to a big one in Katy not too long ago and then went to one in Boerne the day after this.

I took the kids to a park in Boerne while Gram was at a dentist's appointment. The other 2 were running around too much to get pictures of them but I got this one of Hailey and me. Also, I discovered that Levi will stick up for Mattie if another kid is being mean to her on the playground. Not that Mattie will really need it - she will stick up for herself and try to slug said bully with balled fists unless stopped by an adult (me). 😆

Of course we also had visits to Grandmother, as well as my cousin and her family that came into town for a visit to Grandmother. We even did some shopping - the kids are all set for Texas winter now! Another fun visit complete - I'll miss these when Levi really starts school and we can't just go for a long visit on a whim.

Halloween Festivities

The trick or treating fun began Saturday night, October 29th at Guadalupe River State Park. They had a trick or treat along the trail event that we decided to try out. It was a lot of fun but it sure got dark fast! Next year I need to remember a flashlight - I can't use the light on my phone and take pics at the same time. And a big thanks to my mom for helping me out with everything!

Before starting on the trail, we had to listen to a storytelling witch. Levi was enthralled with her story.

One of the candy stops was sponsored by a fire department! They loved Levi's costume.

Then of course we went trick or treating on Halloween night. We went to a neighborhood in Boerne since neither we nor my parents live in a place where we can go door to door. And their neighborhood didn't do the hay ride this year :(

It was really the perfect place - everybody was outside, houses were decorated, and there were TONS and TONS of people out and about. The kids had fun and were completely worn out and tired from it. Success!

My little flamingo was stuck in my carrier for all of the fun.
