Building a House: Part 6 Behind the Walls and Rock

Plumbing and electrical came in next. The electrician said I had more outlets than most houses of comparable size which means I might actually have enough!

And the fireplace:

Good to know!

Somebody added this to my studs. And one of the guys told me how much he liked all of my verses. Said he wrote down some of them that he liked and hadn't seen in a house before. You never know who you might touch in unexpected ways!

Some of the rock work got started:

Building a House: Part 5 Walls and Windows

I have always wanted to have something secret behind my walls...meaningful Bible verses. I put together a bunch of verses and even had my neighbor come over and help me write them with sharpies on the studs. Here are a few of them:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2-3

Bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Proverbs 3:14
Mattie’s Room:
It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from within you – the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. This beauty will never disappear and is worth much more to God. 1 Peter 3:3-4

Building a House: Part 4 Framing

Framing really helped transform the spaces into rooms. Looking at just bare concrete made the imagined rooms seem very small. The perspective provided just from having the rooms framed out helped imagine it a little better.

Building a House: Part 3 Foundation

Seeing the forms go up was an exciting day. It was neat to see how the house would actually lay on the land; it started to become real.

Plumbing getting set:

Rebar! Our slab was engineered as a post tension slab.

And we have concrete! Here is the garage.

Front door will be here:

This is about 4500 sqft of concrete. Justin is standing in his future walk in shower.
