Playing in July

It has been so hot lately that we haven't played much outside. The one day the "cold front" came through and made it possible, I did take the kids to the church around the corner to play on the playground. But the rest of the time we find things to do in the cabin...

Climb on everything...

This.

Watch TV together...

Find a frog in your shoe.

Build forts with Mom.

Dress up in your brother's shoes.

Refuse to smile and cooperate to send a picture to Daddy.

Climb up in Mom's chair and push the back down to climb into the windowsill behind it. (Did I mention climb on everything?)

If we do go outside for 2 minutes, Levi sweats like this, then he took a selfie on my phone.

So we all took a group selfie to send to Daddy at work. And Levi got his sweaty head all over me.

Mattie's Nap Mat

I finally made Mattie's nap mat for school. I made Levi's last year and followed the same pattern for Mattie. I couldn't find any "girly" fabric that I liked for her, so I ended up with this colorful bug pattern that is oh so cute, instead.

And here they are, checking out the final product:

Levi loved all the bugs; he kept pointing them out and asking me what they were.

Buck Buddies

We've been seeing a nice herd of deer coming to eat us out of protein and corn every day! The group has 2 nice bucks in it and a spike, along with several does and fawns. I managed to get a couple of pictures of the bucks; they are growing into some good looking dinners! Needless to say, Justin can't wait for hunting season.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Levi!

Today was a busy day all about Levi. We went to Kiddie Park in San Antonio, rode the zoo train, ate pizza, then came home and had cupcakes and opened presents. Levi is one tired little boy! Mattie stayed home with the Grandparents, aunts, and uncles. I think this birthday was a success!

$13 for unlimited rides is the perfect way to kill a couple of hours with a toddler. This was his favorite ride - he rode it over and over and over and over...

Definitely all boy. Immediately knew what to do with the "gun".

Yee-haw!

Locked in a cage with two older girls...

Got to ride the flying saucer with Daddy

Whee! This one was fast and went up high!

And Mommy got a turn!

Riding a slow train to nowhere

Aunt Michelle and Uncle Brandon joined us for some fun, too!

Waiting for our pizza in Aunt Michelle's lap

Yum!

 Lots of presents to open!

Whenever I asked him what kind of cake he wanted, he just said "Blue." So we had cupcakes with blue icing and an assortment of cars, sharks, dinosaurs and more sprinkles.

Getting some help opening a few gifts that were taped too well!

I think this was his favorite gift. Score!

Thanks everybody who made this birthday special and fun!

A Dress for the Fourth

The dress Mattie wore for the Fourth of July is another one that I made her. I made it just like I did her Halloween dress last year. I added a little flag button at the top that was in a bag of buttons my Aunt Julia had given me.

I got fancy with the hem:

This is when I tried it on her for the first time. The straps were a little too long so I went back and shortened them, but these were some cute pictures so I had to post.
